XMMS Remote is a two part software solution that uses web-services
to remotely control and display the status of the xmms
media player. The software was written on a whim, during a hack session, and
is therefore free!
The server component of the software is distrubuted under the MIT
License and is OSI Certified Open Source Software.

Note: This is the script for version 2.0 of the client. As of v0.2 the client includes this tarball; this is basically here for those of you you want the Perl scripts (Open source MIT) and not the Cocoa application [IE to write your own]. This requires xmms, xmms-shell, perl 5.6.0 or higher, SOAP::Lite, xmms must be running. You may want to see the support article before you try to set it up.
