| Article: 18, LiquidIcon Error with Reading 32-Bit XP Icons | | Date: May 30, 2003 - 9:41PM | | Topic: It has been discovered, thanks to a submission by Dr. Mark W. Prociuk, that the v1.0.2 release of LiquidIcon contains an incompatibility issue when attempting to handle Windows XP 32-bit icons.
This issue only applies to icons that contain the alpha transparency map. | | Discussion: Since Windows XP alpha-transparency icons contain additional image data, LiquidIcon has problems distinguishing it from the actual image itself.
All XP icons have a colour range of up to 24-bit, with an additional option for an 8-bit alpha-transparency gradient. It is the existence of this gradient that causes LiquidIcon to show the image as a distorted array of colours.
This issue is currently being resolved and will be fixed for the next release.
