| Article: 17, Common problems with XMMS Remote™ | | Date: May 10, 2003 - 10:05PM | | Topic: I have received some e-mail about problems people are having with XMMS-Remote, these are the solutions. | Discussion:
- on the mac, every 10 seconds I get: "Couldn't create reply -50; Are you connected to the internet?"
One of the calls to the web service have failed. Please make sure that you have meet all the requirements (xmms, xmms-shell, SOAP::Lite, xmms is running, the server is running as the same user that is running xmms).
- On the server: "sh: line 1: xmms-shell: command not found"
You need to install xmms-shell
- The APP 'freezes' every once in a while
Just leave it for a while, I set the timeout for the webservice for 2 minutes; if you just wait it will recover. I will lower the timeout in the next revision.
- When launching the app, clicking a button or using the dockMenu you get the totally useless NSReceiverEvaluationScriptError: 3 (1).
This is a problem with ASS 1.1 and Apple has stated that Dock menus are unsupported. Although I did manage to get it to work, it is intermittent. In v2.0 (BETA) you can disable the dock menu status to avoid getting this message. As for a fix, we must wait for apple, or have me rewrite the app in ObjC (which I am concidering)
